Should you trust people during lockdown? Maybe not
By Sanjita Napit
The streets were almost empty. Actually void. Even stray dogs dared not move along the streets. I don't know what goes on with the humans!!!They think themselves immune to the so called 'corona' virus. Let me remind you that the streets were empty just for few hours of the midday.Dawn hits the city with streaming number of people roaming on the streets and alleys.
They actually detour with very genuine and valid reasons.
- Buying groceries.
- Fetching drinking water
- Buying medicines.
Which obviously is the most common answers.
The most interesting part:Morning and evening walks.I don't know how much people consume during this pandemic that they need to lose their weight!!!
When lots of people are losing their jobs and don't have enough to eat.
It becomes very amusing to listen themselves saying"We have come to 'breathe in ' some fresh air."
Obviously the morning mists are always fresh. But you don't need to bother yourself all the way from your home to parks and grounds and temple areas. The air inside your home is much fresher these days. Actually the air outside your home these days are STALE.
And how are you supposed to breathe in fresh air when the air outside is actually stale.
I don't remember that being possible from wearing a 3 layered mask either. Breathing in and throwing out your own carbon dioxide is apparently not fresh. The suffocation you feel after putting on a mask is incomparable. Even the air filter holes in your mask are not enough to protect you from entering of the little small particles inside your body. Let alone the corona virus. These days called as 'invisible enemy'.
And nowadays a lot of mask manufacturing companies are being established in a daily basis. Among them a lot are not certified and obviously the products are fake and harmful if used. That means the products are just a show off. Whatever fabrics your mask is made of,if the air filters are not certified the protective mask becomes dangerous. The simple surgical masks are more productive.
However people are not able to buy expensive air filter mask. It's way better if we put on more cheaper surgical masks. It's certified and apparently protects us from tiny corona virus particles.
My brother bought three air filter mask for Rs 375 each during the initial phase of lockdown.I found that really extravagant. And the normal medical surgical masks Rs 20 each.Man !!that was too much.
I don't know what happens to the shopkeepers when they find out there is gonna be future scarcity of goods and commodities. They either price hike or keep on stock to create a false market scarcity also called as artificial scarcity. So the innocent people are forced to pay the higher prices or not to put on masks at all.
Let's take common examples of grocery vendors. A day before the announcement of second phase curfew inside the Kathmandu valley; the price of tomatoes were Rs 60 per kilogram. On The first day of lockdown the price raised to Rs 80 per kilogram. And during five days span of time the price raised to Rs 160 per kilogram. Just you see how are the poor customers being cheated!!!
I don't find any valid reasons to raise the price of such groceries which is the must
daily basic needs of every single human being. Just in a span of five days Rs 100 difference is dramatic.
The sanitizers which is the most important part of lockdown these days is not alone spared. It is as well victimized.
People used to buy sanitizer in much cheaper rate than they are buying right now. They used it to sanitize their hands from pollution. Needless to say how polluted Kathmandu valley is.
This period of time is really challenging. It is indeed a difficult situation not only in our country but the whole word.
So people lets help others whoever is in need in the best possible way we can. Even if we don't have money to give them lets help the needy by at least raising our voices for them. lets not demean them. Just a handful of rice grains might be a whole lot for them. Just few words of consolation can mean a lot to them.It indeed gives us a lot of self satisfaction and as a bonus blessings as well. Lets be kind and benevolent.
