Book SUMMARY 4: The Girl In Room 105: Chetan Bhagat

Truly speaking, I really didn't get the message it's trying to convey from this novel.🤔🤔 Of course there is suspense (too long),🥱🥱 thriller, murder mystery, relations, love♥️♥️ and hate and what not?? Even though,I didn't connect with the plot. If you are seeking for entertainment solely then this is the book I would recommend.

Everything you have watched in a Bollywood entertainment movie the book sums it all up. Despite, all these I really appreciate the effort of the writer to trap the readers to its contents. The writer is so very successful to present a simple murder mystery to making it very complicated and suspicious.😲😲 It's praiseworthy that those who once start reading the book will end up completing it. 👏

But the only thing is that I was not satisfied when I ended the book. The excitement and the environment it creates during the beginning gradually decreases when it reaches the end. Huh!!..

It tries to create a lot of confusion and of course some melodramas of traditional Indian society engrossing the readers to keep on reading and reading. It so creates the very urge to know what happens next and what is to happen to the characters.

Speaking of the characters there are three major characters

Keshav: A Maths teacher at A Coaching centre

Saurabh: Keshav's colleague at the Coaching centre

Zara: Keshav's ex girlfriend

The story starts with these characters and ends up with these characters with other supporting characters.

PLOT:

PART 1: Present

Keshav is a Maths teacher at JEE Coaching centre. He used to be an IIT student. As Keshav was an average student he fails to get a proper job at present. Anyhow he finds a job as a tutor at 'Chandan Classes'. He is very unsatisfied with his job as a Maths lecturer. He puts his profile as an IITian in LinkedIn to get a proper job placement. But there is no any job opportunities for him yet. So he endures his job until he finds something better.

Saurabh is Keshav's friend at the Coaching centre. He is also in same plate as Keshav's. Both of them hates their job and much more they hate their Boss.

They find their Boss very annoying and rude and unfriendly. The boss never pays their salary in time and it is so shown that he is short of humanity. He never gives a day leave even if the employee is sick.

So this is the current situation of Keshav who helds his past as well and is unable to forget it.

PART 2: The Girl in room 105

Keshav had a girlfriend named Zara Lone during his college years. She is also an IITian and is currently pursuing PhD at the university.

As the book title suggests The Girl in room 105 is none other than his former girlfriend Zara Lone. She is staying at a hostel room number 105 and is intended for completing her PhD.

As Zara is from a Muslim family and Keshav is from Hindu family, both their parents do not agree for their marriage proposal. So on terms of their orthodox culture or traditional Indian society they end breaking up. Although both of them love each other very much they decide to not continue their love story ahead. However they remain loyal friends.

Keshav sees Zara for the first time at a Debate competition. She presents herself so very well he fell for her the very moment. When he finds her winning the competition he cheers her up like anything else. This is where their love story began.

 PART 3: Zara is Dead

Keshav is not able to forget Zara completely. Though Zara is already in a relationship with his former classmate Raghu Venkatesh. He is very intelligent and a geeky person. He happens to be working at Microsoft Corporation and is earning millions. Despite him being very rich he is not at all handsome. He is dark in colour while Zara is very beautiful and fair. They are in verge of their marriage. I don't get it how did their parents agreed now for marriage despite their culture and traditions. !! It must have been the riches.

Now both Zara and Keshav are separated and involved in their own lives. It so happens that Keshav wants to wish a happy birthday message to Zara on her birthday but ends up not sending it. He finds it improper to wish anyone who won't reply any message in return.

But suddenly at 3 AM in the morning he finds a message from Zara. It said she was actually expecting a message from him and that she was very upset and wanted to meet him.

Keshav becomes very excited and rushes to her hostel room number 105. Saurabh denies him to go to Zara's this time in the morning. However he goes. Since Zara lives in a girls hostel the boys are forbidden to enter. So he bribes the Watchman to enter the room. The window of the room was just near the mango tree. Keshav had to climb up the branches to reach the window and into the room.

When they were in a relationship Keshav used to do the same and is nostalgic. To his surprise the window is wide open and the room very dark and silent. He calls for Zara but she doesn't reply back. So he finds the switch and turn on the lights. He finds her sleeping on the bed. He finds it strange that after inviting him to meet him she was asleep. However he goes and checks her forehead to find it very cold. He checks her pulse and confirms her dead. He immediately calls for his friend Saurabh who suggests him to run away from the murder scene. Instead he goes and informs the police.

PART 4: KESHAV as DETECTIVE

He reports the police about the murder of his ex girlfriend. Unfortunately Raghav is beaten up by some goons and is at Apollo hospital. The rest of the story is his journey where he stands by Zara after her death to find justice and find the killer.

At first ,the police arrests the watchman of the hostel, who is missed from the CCTV camera during the time Zara was killed. He was questioned and in not finding any clue against him he is released. Police confirms this to be a suicide and close the case. Keshav is very angry and unsatisfied and is determined to find out the murderer himself. Keshav continues his investigation. Keshav digs deeper, with the help of police Inspector Vikas Rana.

Keshav first suspects Prof. Saxena (Zara's Ph.D. guide), who tries to harass Zara. Then, Prof. Saxena is withdrawn as a suspect in Zara's murder case after finding out the truth. He finds that the Professor indeed liked Zara very much and was not in condition to let finish her PhD any sooner. He wanted her to remain near the Professor. And that's all for the Professor.

So he suspects new suspects. He tries to find Sikander, Zara's stepbrother who happens to be part of a terrorist group in Kashmir. Keshav seeks help from Zara's father and checks her room for clues. Though their parents were against their marriage they knew how much Keshav loved their daughter. They help him in any way they could to find the killer.

He finds a locker with gunpowder, pregnancy kits, and selfies of Sikander with a gun along with Zara who happens to be smiling in the picture. Keshav goes through the clues one by one. He decides to meet Sikander. He finds and asks him about his group called Tehreek. At their first meeting, Sikander gets afraid and threatens them with a gun and runs away. They try to reach him out through his mother in Kashmir.

Sikander meets them again and tries to explain that he is not the murderer. But with the proper clues, Keshav almost gets convinced that Sikander killed his sister in the fear that Tehreek might be known to the army. The next day Sikander kills himself, telling that his existence would harm Tehreek and convince everyone that he did not kill his sister. After the suicide of Sikander, Keshav realizes he made a mistake. So he decides to make very careful moves and not suspect anyone without any firm clues.

Remembering clues he again thinks about the pregnancy kits and the box. He finds that Zara has a picture of Captain Faiz Khan in her safe. After proper investigation, he finds out that the army officer has gifted Zara expensive jewelry and expensive accessories. Saurabh and Keshav raid his house in Delhi. They find the same pregnancy kitsat his house apartment. Being an IITian Saurabh decides to check his laptop for any clue. So he checks his internet history, which has search histories related to abortion and divorce. They also find gold blocks in his house and get convinced with the theory that he made Zara pregnant and killed her in guilt.

They are now confirmed that Captain is the killer. They arrange an idea to arrest him red handed and with all the proofs. They arrange a dinner party to announce the victim and arrest him unknowingly by inviting everyone Zara knew, after the 100th day of her death.

PART 5: Revealing Zara's killer

Just before Keshav announces the killer, he goes on a little trip to Hyderabad. This is when he realizes that Raghu is the killer. He has been suspecting the wrong person all that time when the actual killer was right in front of them every time. Raghu confesses to have killed Zara. He is indeed very smart and intelligent as in his work. He perfectly planned the murder. Even the police shut down the case. But because of Keshav determination he found Raghu as the culprit.

Raghu killed Zara because he found out she had an affair with her childhood friend, Captain Faiz, and was perhaps pregnant with his child. Faiz tells, however, that she wasn't. Captain Faiz accepts that he had an affair with Zara. But he also accepts that it ended because Faiz was married.Zara didn't want him to leave his wife and kids, and because Zara LOVED Raghu.

Keshav learns that Raghu had sent the text messages to him on Zara's birthday, and that Zara was already dead. RAGHU also had made himself attack by the goons after the murder and took a flight to his work. He indeed planned this murder with so much ease without leaving any signs.

At the end Raghu is arrested by Inspector Rana. The novel ends with Keshav visiting Zara's grave, and Keshav and Saurabh opening a detective agency. He leaves his job as a tutor and takes in the detective agency. He names it after his girlfriend Zara.
